UGEC 2015/2016 Scientific Steering Committee Meeting | Tempe, Arizona, USA
International Project Office
From 2006 – 2017, the UGEC International Project Office (IPO) was hosted at the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Institute of Sustainability at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, USA. The IPO coordinated, monitored, and synthesized project activities, ensuring the steady flow of information between the Scientific Steering Committee (SSC), IHDP (later Future Earth), ASU and the wider research community. The IPO also provided the administrative and intellectual support to link the growing interdisciplinary network of scholars on an international level assisted by the SSC and its project associates.
Scientific Steering Committee
The UGEC Scientific Steering Committee (SSC) was a dynamic group of leading experts in the field of urbanization and global environmental change who lead the scientific activities and provided the overall strategic direction for the project and the IPO. The UGEC SSC was a diverse group of individuals who work in different regions and also engage with different stakeholders and policy makers at various scales.
The project continuously developed a network of affiliates who provided a broader diversity of scientific (thematic and regional) expertise in various disciplines and sub-disciplines as well as practical expertise (practitioners and decision-makers). UGEC Project Associates were researchers and practitioners who collaborated closely with the UGEC project and were interested in issues related to urbanization and global environmental change.
